Brandes iconic Warehouse next to Brande Railway Station will serve as the venue for the
workshop where international artists will work and create during the first edition of Brande
Biennale 2023.
The Warehouse is a beautiful old building dating back to 1914. It was constructed at the
time where the railway was established in Brande, making it an important railway town. For
several years the Railway Station was Brande’s largest workplace, employing around 500
people. During and after World War II Brande was Denmark’s largest freight train station in
terms of tonnage. Thousands of tons of coal were transported from Brande Railway
Station to all parts of the country to allow the people to heat their homes.

We are very grateful to the municipality of Ikast-Brande for providing these beautiful
historic premises for the biennale. There is no doubt that the building’s fantastic spaces will
be the perfect place for the artists to unleash their creativity.

With its rustic renovation, the Warehouse is almost tailor-made for hosting art workshops
and exhibitions.

You will find the Warehouse at the address Jernbanegade 1D in Brande, adjacent to the
railway station building.
